to whom it may concern, my name is Myurathan Pathmanathan and I sit on the working committee for the Transnational Gov't. I would like to extend a welcome towards the Tamil youth population interested in Sri Lankan politics.
Our aim is to form an elected body within Canada (25 delegates) amongst 5 electorates within Canada to act as lobbyist group to communicate the plight of Sri Lankan Tamils. Our efforts have been echoed all over the world as many other organizations in London, Sydney, and the United States (ect...) are also holding elections to establish a transnational gov't.
Our emphasis here is to eventually form an international body or NGO, where we would represent sri lankan Tamils (as a response to crisis) and also have unified body where the international community could communicate with. Over the years, there has been a lot donor/recipient fatigue in the aid relationship due diluted levels of dialogue between the Tamil Diaspora and aid givers.
We realize that there are other institutions and organizations, and we are not discrediting there work or efforts; we simply feel the need to establish a unified body. One that is transparent and seeks to represent Tamils both federally and internationally. This new phase in Sri Lankan history is quintessential for us, we must mobilize our masses and move away from past stigma and sterol types. We feel that by holding elections, that our legitimacy would be established form the Tamil populous and our election will be monitored by a third party (statistics Canada)
The Tamil populace have recently voted on the Vattukottai resolution which only suggests to us that the people wish an international political movement be initiated to secure the safety and rights of Sri Lankan Tamils in the North and the East.
Our basis is primarily for a humanitarian cause not to establish immediate sovereignty. I as a recent graduate would encourage university students/ college students graduates and anyone who is interested in Volunteering.
If anyone is interested in Volunteering, or would like to be nominated for election please contact us at TGTE.
enclosed is an email from our head of finance who is hosting an open house meeting where you can acquire more information.
